Stone Town Tour


Ruins in Stone Town


2500 limestone buildings (Stone Town) form the oldest and most interesting part of Zanzibar town. The small alleys, 45 mosques, 2 Christian churches and
4 Hindus halls invite to discover.

City tour:
The city tour lasts half a day. You are accompanied by a guide who will explain the amusing, historical corners Stone Towns to you.
You will visit a former slave market, the museum, the House of Wonders and the old fort. Also the visit of the local market is an experience.

Town walk:
You will visit all places as at the city tour, without museum.
Stonetown at night: The tour begins with a Sundowner in the Africa House. Then you explore the historical sites on foot.

Spice-Tour

You will go to the middle of the island and discover the spice world of Zanzibar. You will stop at a small farm and get the tilled plants, spices and their medical use explained. On a distance of 20 km you cross smaller villages as for example Bububu, Kidichi and Kizimbani.
You can try yourself some spices and fruits on site. Wonderful pictures can originate in the orchards.

Mangapwani Cave

This cave was knocked out by human hand from the limestone and served as "a storeroom" for the slaves of the famous slave trader Mohammed
Bin Nassor Al-Alawi. The slaves came from the mainland and were brought by boats on the island and were held on in this cave, until they were sold either in Stone Town or in Oman. In 1873 the slave trade was forbidden by sultan Barghash. Then this cave was used as a confidential hiding place for the unlawful slave trade. Till this day the cave can be visited.

Prison Island Tour


Prison Island



You can plan this tour as a half day or whole day tour. The cruise by boat from Stone Town (big fig tree in the Forodhani market) takes approx. 35 minutes to the small Prison Iceland. This historically significant island was used earlier for slaves and then at times as a hospital or quarantine station with contagious illnesses.

The island offers historical as well as regional charms, with its white sandy beaches which invite for swimming and snorkelling at the coral reefs. It is also famous for the giant tortoises and different bird's species.

Jozani Forest


Red Colobus Monkey Jozani Forest

The Jozani forest is located approx. 45 minutes in the south of Stone Town and is home for the red Colobus monkeys who you can only find there.

These monkeys are very friendly contemporaries. You will go for a short walk in the forest and get different plants and types of trees explained.

Fishing

Dolphin-Tour


Traditional Dhow in the Indian Ocean

You spend this day trip on a traditional Dhow and can observe the dolphins from close by.

The Dhows are equipped with awnings and the modern rescue west.
While snorkelling near a coral reef you can explore the beauty of the underwater world.

Also the transfer to Kizimkazi where the tour starts and back to the hotel is included

Excursion to North Coast


Day trip to the north coast of Zanzibar. You will get an idea of the small villages of Zanzibar. You drive past the Mvuleni water cave and have a stop over in the village Mkokotoni. At the market there you can see the fish auction and buy at an auction the catch of the day for yourself.

Another highlight is the inspection of a traditional Dhow shipyard.
Then you can relax on the incomparable sandy beach of Nungwi and enjoy your barbecue lunch

Ocean-Safari


Dhow at the beach


Today you will go from Fumba, approx. 40 minutes southwest from Stone Town, by a boat out to the Ocean for snorkelling. During the excursion a delicate lunch with zanzibarian seafood is prepared.

Soft drinks, as well as lunch are included. You will go to Menai Bay, an incomparable water protection area, with dolphins, sandy benches and coral reefs. Then you return to Fumba.
