Kilimanjaro Climbing
The Kilimanjaro (=”White Mountain”) with its 5896m above sea level is not only the highest mountain of Africa, but also the highest stand-alone mountain on earth. It is located in the north-east of Tanzania and is covered with snow on its peak. In 1987 it has been declared to UNESCO world natural heritage.
During the climb you are going to hike through different areas of climate, literally spoken from the tropics to the arctic. On a level of 2700m there is mountain forest, a little bit above there is moorland with a vegetation of moorland herb, from 4000m on there is alpine area covered with mooses and lichenics. Just before the peak there is the transition to ice and snow- the roof of Africa.
