Mikumi national park The Mikumi national park is compared to the other parks a relatively small park (3230 km2) and is about 300 km west of Dar es Salaam located. In the east the Uluguru Mountains mark the border of the area and in the west the Great Rift Valley, to the south the park is directly connected to the Selous Game Reserve. In this park you can get a good overview of the African fauna. There are big numbers of giraffes, buffalos, elephants, impalas, lions, cheetahs and hippos. Besides those animals you can find up to 370 different species of birds. Different viewpoints in the park give you a wonderful panoramic view. How to get there You can reach Mikumi national park from Dar es Salaam on good tarred road (about 4hrs drive). There are also connections with Udzungwa, Ruaha and Selous.
