_________________________________________________________________ The village Ilkiding'a situated on the slopes of Mount Meru offers you a view into the life of the Wa-arusha tribe. Options: - Visit a traditional house and get an idea how the Wa-arusha live together - Walk through coffee plantations and open fields with potatoes and conrn, beans and other crops - Visit a traditional healer, he will answer all your questions and if you wish, he will give you some advice - Visit local craftsmen, producing little wooden chairs, jewelry, knives or traditional clothes - Taste a traditional meal, cooked by the Mainyoito women's grouop - Visit the primary school, where the paid development fee is invested - Visit different view points and enjoy panoramic views over Aursha
Tours Ilkiding'a Half-day-tour Visit Sombeo's Boma, get an idea of the everyday life in the village. Do a walking tour and visit a traditional healer. After that walk to the Njeche Canyon and enjoy a traditional meal, cooked by the Mainyoito Women's group.
Full-day-tour Walk through the fields and visit Sembeo's Boma. After this cross the Ngarenaro river to reach the Leloto viewpoint. Go on walking to the Craftsmen Group and finish your tour with a traditional meal.
3 days tour On the first day walk up to Sembeo's Boma, cross the Ngarenaro river and walk through the Mikhasi forrest to Timbolo. Spend the night there. On the second day cross Ngareolmotonyi river and walk up to Olkokola and then to Ilkurot, spend a night there. On the third day walk to Muklat and Ngaramtoni and visit the weekly Maasai market. After lunch drive back to Arusha.

Longido is located about 80km north of Arusha on the way to Nairobi. Mount Longido and the plains inviting you to watch birds and animals. Also to get an idea about the traditional Maasai life, Longido is perfect.

Tours Longido
Half-day-tour Do a walking tour and visit the bomaof Ol Tepesi. On the way you learn more about different plants, trees adn birds. Some plants are used as medicine from the locals. After this you visit a Maasai village and learn more about their every day life.
Full-day-tour After the half-day-tour (as mentioned above) you walk along a path to Kimokouwa. There you climb up to 1600m and have a wonderful view over Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro. After this you descend and visit a british graveyard. Wednesdays you can visit the cattle market.

Mamba and Marangu are villages on the Mount Kilimanjaro. Both villages offer their visitor interesting places in the nature and cultural sites to see. There are more then seven waterfalls and a unique flora and fauna. Do a walking tour on the slopes of the Mount Kilimanjaro and visit different viewpoints.
In Marangu you have a unforgettable view on Mount Kilimanjaro and you can visit the house of Yohana Lauwo, born in Marangu. She accompanied Dr. Hans Meyer on the first registered Kilimanjaro climb 1889.
A half-day, full-day- or two-days-tour includes walking to the Kinukamori and Moonjo waterfalls and a visit of traditional Chagga houses. You can see the first planted coffeebush and walk up the Ngangu mountain. Visit the African Art Center, which is home to different ancient and modern sculptures.
Mamba is a paradise for orthnitologists and nature lovers. Visit historical sites, e.g. the Laka caves - big caves, which were used during the wars between the Chagga and Maasai. Visit a school for wood carvings, a local smith, who is using traditional methods for producing tools.
The development fee is used to improve the education in the Kilimanjaro region.

Monduli Juu is located about 50km northwest of Arusha and consists of different small villages - Emairete, Enguiki, Eluwai und Mfereji.
Options - Journey through the evergreen rainforest - Learn about medical plants and herbs and visit a traditional healer - Visit Naramatu - a little company, where Maasai women produce their traditional jewelry - Eat together with the Maasai the traditional "nyama choma" (roasted meat) - Have a wonderful view over the Great Rift Valley, Ol donyo Lengai (the holy mountain of the Maasai) and Lake Natron - Take a view inside Maasai and Wa-arusha culture
Tours Monduli Juu Half-day-tours 1. "Kona Saba" The tour starts from Mfereji village and includes a visit at the Maasai village, after this walk through the tree savannah and climb the wall of the Great Rift Valley. On the top you will have a wonderful view.
2. The rainforrest tour Start from Enguiki and walk to the eastern peak of the Monduli mountians. On the way you can see trees, birds and animals.
Full-day-tour The tour starts at Emairete dam. On the way to Naramatu visit the projects of the Maasai church, the primary school and the kindergarten. From the mountain you have a wonderful view. Before visiting a traditional Maasai doctore, you will get an inside view of a Maasai village.
2 days tour Olkarya Tour On the first day visit Esserian Maasai camp and the Sominen dam, a Maasai Boma, where the traditional "orpul" is celebrated. On the second day walk to Olkaray, there you find the red mud, which is used by the Maasai warriors.
3-4 days tours on request
The development fee is used to build a new kindergarten.

Mto wa Mbu is situated on the way from Arusha to the national parks in northern Tanzania, just at the foot of the Rift Valley. Located on the way to Ngorongoro and Serengeti, it is an ideal resting place for most safari travellers.
A visit to Mto wa Mbu includes: - A walk through the farms in the green oasis at the foot of the Rift Valley - A climb to Balaa Hill from where you can see the whole town - A view into the culture of the many different tribes livin in the area - A trip to the Miwaleni lake and waterfall - Visits to development projects that aim at improving agriculture and start income generating activities for the farmers - Explanation about the irrigation system
Different Tours are on offer: Farming tour Walk through lush green farms of fruits and vegetables and see the irrigation system used. Visit local banana beer producing Chagga families and Mzee Filipo's oil press before ending the tour in fields carpeted with sunflowers.
Papyrus Lake tour Walk past little streams as you go towards the Papyrus Lake. On the way, see rice farming and visit Sandawe families who make traditional bows and arrows for hunting. A climb to the waterfall at the Rift Valley may be included in the tour.
Balaa Hill tour Go through banana plantations where 30 varieties of bananas are grown, as you head for Balaa Hill. Climb Balaa HIll to enjoy a panoramic view of Mto wa Mbu. You may extend the walk to the Njoro Springs and a nearby waterfall.
One day walk You may combine the above three half day tours into a one day walk. Starting from Mto wa Mbu market, you go via the farm of ACT to the Papyrus Lak. On your way back, you walk along the foot of the Rift Valley, passing the Njoro Springs and Balaa Hill.
Other options A popular option is to see the place on bicycle or taking a boat tour with the guides.

The Mulala village is a typical rural setting on the southern slopes of Mount Meru and surrounded by spectacular scenery. It lies 1600 - 1700m above sea level and you wind your way up the mountain through a maze of lush, green vegetation dotted with small farms.
The women of Mulala have united in the form of the Agape Women's Group. Through this group, they try to support economic activities of the members and start new income-generating projects, like the Mulala Cultural Tourism Programme. When you arrive there, you will be warmly welcomed by the village women.
The Mulala women have organized the following: - A tour of Mama Anna's quaint cheese making unit, this being the starting point of the tour - A nice garden where you can relax and enjoy a beverage or a simple, traditional meal - Guided tours crisscrossing coffee and banana farms, walking through the forest reserve or by the Marisha river bank and enjoying spectacular views of Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro
Agape Women Traditional Acitvities (1 to 2 hours)
Visit the farms of the Agape Women's Group. The women will explain their farming methods and show you the various economic activities they have started, like cheese-making, bread-making, flower seeds, chilli growing and sewing.
Mount Meru forest reserve tour (1 to 2 hours)
Walk into the forest reserve and climb up to the foothills of Mount Meru, crossing the beautiful natural forest, home to many species of birds and monkeys.
Marisha river tour (2 hours)
Enjoy the scenic Marisha river bank, thick with tropical vegetation and home to colourful birds and primates. The guide will show you the most common medicinal plants used by the villagers. You may continue to the Ziwa la Mzungu (Whitemans's Lake) to see a big colony of fruit bats.
Lemeka Hills tour (2 hours)
Criss-cross the coffee and banana farms and head up Lemeka Hill for breath-taking views of Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro and of the Maasai plains. Also visit the farm of Moses Karoiya, the traditional healer of the village.
The development fee is used to improve the school buildings, the kindergarten and the dispensary.

Ng'iresi is situated 7km out of Arusha, on the slopes of Mount Meru. It is inhabited by farmers of the Wa-arusha tribe.
The villagers of Ng'iresi and Olgilai have the following on offer for visitors: - A guided tour to farms on the lush slopes of Mount Meru - A visit to several development projects in the village - soil conservation, irrigation, cross breeding, bio-gas - A climb to Kivesi Hill, an old volcano with a natural forest on the top - A glimpse of Wa-arusha culture - A walk to Songoto and Navuru waterfalls - A delicioius lunch and dinner prepared by the Juhudi Women's Group
Different tours can be organized:
Half day tour 1. Village tour Visit Mzee Loti's farm for a coffee and tea and get an explanation on bio-gas, cross-breeding and soil conservation projects on the farm. Walk to the nearby bomas to see the various styles of traditional Maasai and Wa-arusha houses and enjoy a beautiful view of Arusha town and the surrounding Maasai plain. Descend Lekimana Hill to visit the Ng'iresi primary school and return to Loti's farm for lunch.
2. Songota waterfall The tour starts from Kwangulelo bus stop. A 45-minute walk takes you to the Songota waterfall in Oldadai village. Visit Mzee Loti's farm and visit the bio-gas and soil conservation projects, traditional houses and school.
Full day tours 1. Navuru waterfall and village tour From Mzee Loti's farm, do the half day tour combined with a walk to the Olgilai forest reserve. A small path leads you to the steep canyon of the Themi river. Cross the river to reach the Navuru waterfall.
2. Village and Forest tour The village tour can be combined with a visit to the forest on the higher slopes of Mount Meru. The spring waters that are the main source of water for the village commence here. At the edge of the forest, meet a traditional healer.
Two day tour After a full day tour, spend the night camping at Mzee Loti's farm. Next morning, start for a climb to Kivesi Hill. Descend on the other side and return to Arusha.
Other tours can be arranged on request. A traditional medicine tour is an interesting option, during which you meet a traditional healer and walk along the slopes of Mount Meru collecting herbs and plants that have been used by the locals for thousands of years. The guid will help in identifying and collecting samples of the different species.
The development fee is used to imporve the local primary schools and quality of education.

In close priximtiy to the picturesque slopes of Mount Meru, Tengeru is 13km from Arusha town along the Arush-Moshi/Dar es Salaam road.
The following is on offer - A glimpse of Meru culture - A visit to local farms owned and managed by members of the Ptandi Women's Group - A guided tour to the legendary Chief's compound to see his handicrafts and artifacts, followed by a hiking tour up Mount Meru - A visit to families with specific women's/youth village groups to exchange ideas on family planning and HIV/AIDS - An introduction to Billage Environmental Conservation Initiative (VECI) - Attending the church service on Sunday - A taste of locally prepared coffee and learn about the bio-gas plant - Entertainment by local theatre works around a bonfire
Visit to a local primary school (2 hours) Visit any of the three primary schools in the vicinity. One is a normal primary school, the second a special school for the handicapped and the third a teaching practice school. Meet the children and participate in their activities.
Patandi Bush tour (3 hours) Visit the Patandi village and the homes of the villagers. See the farms, cattle rearing and coffee-making process.
Lake Duluti tour (4 hours) Walk to Lake Duluti, a caldera lake and learn about the historical background and mysteries associated with it. A boat ride can be organized or enjoy watching the flora that abounds in the area.
Visit to an African herbalist (half day) Meet Dr. Maretu, an old man in his late seventies who has been treating people for over 20years.
River Malala eco tour (half day) Take a nature walk along the river bank to enjoy scenery, birds, flowers and trees.
Shimbumbu Hill nature expedition (full day) Walk through banana and coffee plantations and after crossing the river Malala, ascend to the top of Shimbumbu HIll and to the Msese caves.
Kimundo excursion (3 days) Visit an African chiefdom, Khum Springs and the Maasai-Kwavi point near River Malala. Hear the stories connected with these sites. Enjoy the Mangalia waterfalls and go on to pay tribute to two young missionaries at a nearby graveyard. Later, go hiking up the majestic Mount Meru.
Songs: Enjoy local singing, dancing and petry of the Meru culture around a beonfire at night.
Shopping: Join the locals in their evening shopping and buy yourself a souvenir.
The development fee is used to decate AIDS orphans and to develop the Mavinuni Primary School.
